Jet Coffee, which opened last summer in a new shopping center in southwest Lafayette, will open a second location in Broussard at 109 St. Nazaire Road.
Owned by John and Stephanie Tommasini, the coffee shop has had success with the first location in the 1,800-square-foot space at 101 Camino Real Road and developed a base of loyal customers. Now they will expand into another 1,800-square-foot location that was once previously a CC’s Coffee House.

The owner of Tim’s Kitchen, who some might remember as the former Chef and co-owner of Ruby’s restaurant, says he’s been blessed during the pandemic despite the challenges.
Many restaurants have had to close – some permanently – but he’s been able to stay open and keep his employees. He said initially he only had curbside and take-out, but since has opened up his restaurant for Phases I and II. Even today, though, most of his business is take-out.

Georgia-based Flowers Foods, parent company of the Louisiana-branded Evangeline Maid bread and other products, held a ribbon-cutting celebration for its new bakery outlet and distribution center in Broussard Wednesday morning.
The 12,500-square-feet outlet shop and distribution center at 490 Albertsons Parkway offers other baked goods, including Nature’s Own, Sunbeam and Wonder bread and Tastykake and Moon Pie snacks, at reduced prices.

Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corp. will move its headquarters to the former Knight Oil Tools building in Broussard, company officials announced last week.
The move will allow the company to move its operations to 2727 SE Evangeline Thruway instead of having to expand its current headquarters at 3420 NW Evangeline Thruway in Carencro, company communications manager Mary Laurent said. The location, which sits on 27.9 acres, will have 83,232 square feet of office space and a total of 187,000 square feet, including warehouse space.

A four-story condominium development is planned for the eastern edge of downtown Broussard that will also give a nod to one of the city’s most notable natives.
Guidry Land Development will break ground on The Sax Condominiums, 711 E. Main St., this summer. The 30-unit complex will feature a number of amenities, such as private parking on the ground level, and a statue of Illinois Jacquet, a Broussard native who is regarded as the first R&B solo saxophone player.

A seafood restaurant and steakhouse that seeks to bring fine dining and great food at any price range will open in Broussard March 15.
The Point Seafood and Steakhouse is the labor of love for co-owners Candace Cooper and Jacob Sonnier. The restaurant will serve traditional charbroiled oysters along with their own twists on the the classic recipe, like Bloody Mary style and Oysters Supreme. Other dishes include duck and andouille gumbo, praline chicken and waffle sliders, burgers, filet and rib eye steaks, and boudin quesadillia.

South Bernard Road will be extended from Albertson Parkway to Main St./LA 182.
Mayor Ray Bourque and the Broussard City Council have approved $2.9 million for the second and final phase of the extension project. The 1-mile-long, four-lane road will have a grass median and be built in undeveloped parts of Broussard. Mayor Bourque said the new road will reduce congestion.
