BROUSSARD (LA) — The first day of school is right around the corner and that means parents and teachers are preparing. At Martial Billeaud Elementary in Broussard, that means completing the final stages of construction on the brand new school.
Teachers of the new facility are seeing their classrooms for the first time. Under the drop off and pick up awning, they wheeled in all the supplies needed for their classroom one trip at a time. Third grade teacher Emily Denlinger said that even in the rain, it was exciting to set up the room.

Kick-start your celebration at the Broussard Independence Festival taking place on June 29.
The Independence Day celebration is being held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park, located at 701 St Nazaire Road, Broussard.
The festival is free to attend and will feature fun jumps, the park’s splash pad, a strolling magician and face painting. All kids activities will be in the “Blue Pod” and live music from Seven Jet will be held at the “Red Pod” beginning at 6 p.m.

BROUSSARD, La – On January 10, Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief Kasie Quebedeaux was presented a 12-year appreciation of service and dedication to the Broussard Fire Department award as she leaves to take a promotion with the City of Broussard.
Mayor Ray Bourque also attended the Broussard Fire Department business meeting to support two firemen who were promoted to Lieutenant. Firefighter Josiah Atkins and Firefighter Kale LeBlanc were both promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and will join the other officers in running the department.

Thursday, officials with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority and Plains Exploration & Production Company announced PXP has started construction on a new warehouse and administrative offices in Broussard to support its growing offshore deepwater Gulf of Mexico operations.
