City of Broussard update on significant municipal projects and happenings over the past 30 days. Please feel free to share this information, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about these or other projects.

• New early voting site at East Regional Library will be available Friday, October 16 – Tuesday, October 27 (excluding Sundays) from 8am-7pm. Thank you to City of Broussard Council Members, Mayor Ken Ritter and Youngsville Council Members, and Lafayette Parish Council Members for the support in making this much needed site available

• The City acquired Arceneaux Park as part of the overall downtown revitalization plan. Plans for the park include transforming the 30 acres into a passive park with festival grounds and walking trails that will connect to the entire downtown district. The proposed master plan for the overall revitalization can be viewed at: https://www.cityofbroussard.com/envisionbroussard/

• The City purchased 10 acres adjacent to Arceneaux Park for new Police Dept., Fire Dept., and Council Chambers

• Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission awarded a $15,000 grant to the City for a tourism-related website, app, and print campaign

• New playground equipment is being installed at Ida Benoit Crouchet Memorial Park

• Construction is underway at St. Julien Park on a PDGA accredited disc golf course

• The BEDC has published the annual Broussard Economic Profile, available at https://www.developbroussard.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Broussard-Economic-Profile-2020-final.pdf

• 4 New Business Occupation licenses were issued in the past 30 days

• Phase 1 of S. Bernard Rd. water line is completed and Phase 2 is funded

• Downtown Development District maps have been completed and will have the final vote of the Council in October, allowing developers to apply for state tax credits for renovations of existing structures, which will encourage improvements in our downtown area
